HOW TO CHECK YOUR GREEN CARD LOTTERY RESULT
To check your result, follow these steps:

1. Go to the official U.S. Department of State website: You can find this by visiting Application link at the bottom.
2. Click on “Check Status” and then hit “Continue.”
3. Enter:
• Your confirmation number (starts with 2026…),
• Your last name (family name),
• And your year of birth.
4. Click “Submit” to see if you were selected or not selected.

NOTE: Be very careful of fake websites or scammers asking for money. The U.S. government does not email or call winners. You only check results on the official website.

LOST YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER? NO PROBLEM!
If you lost your confirmation number, don't worry. You can recover it by clicking “Forgot Confirmation Number?” on the result page. You will need:
• Your name
• Date of birth
• Email address you used when applying

WHAT IF YOU ARE NOT SELECTED?
If your result says “You have not been selected,” don’t lose hope. Here’s what you can do:
1. Keep the confirmation number safe – you may still be selected later if there is a second draw (explained below).
2. Try again this October 2025 when the next Green Card Lottery (DV-2027) opens.

WILL THERE BE A SECOND DRAW IN 2025?
Yes, sometimes the U.S. government does a second draw for the Green Card Lottery. If some selected people don’t complete the process or are disqualified, the U.S. may select more winners.

HAS IT HAPPENED BEFORE?
Yes! For example:
• In DV-2023, more selectees were added in September 2022.
• It also happened in DV-2017 and other years.

WHEN DOES A SECOND DRAW HAPPEN?
Usually around September or October of the same year. So, for DV-2026, if it happens, it may be around September or October 2025.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THERE’S A SECOND DRAW?
You don’t need to reapply. Just keep checking the website with your confirmation number once in a while between now and the end of September. The official website will quietly update your result if you're selected in the second draw.

WHY DOES THE U.S. DO A SECOND DRAW?
• Not enough people accepted the offer.
• Some people were disqualified.
• The U.S. still needs more immigrants to fill their diversity goals.

So always keep your confirmation number until the end of September 2026, just in case!

WILL THERE BE A NEW GREEN CARD LOTTERY THIS OCTOBER 2025?
Yes, the DV-2027 Green Card Lottery is expected to open in October 2025, unless the U.S. government announces a major change.

Did Donald Trump stop the Green Card lottery?
The answer is no, at least not yet. The lottery was still running during and after Trump’s time in office. Unless a new law is passed, the Green Card Lottery will continue.
