SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
• Full or partial coverage of tuition and fees for up to four years.
• Annual stipends ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on the scholarship type.
• Priority enrolment in classes for Regents and Chancellor’s Scholars.
• Access to faculty mentorship and research opportunities.
• On-campus housing support for some scholarships like CASP (Chancellor’s Associates Scholars Program).
• Opportunities to join exclusive scholar communities and leadership programs.
• Support for study abroad programs and academic enrichment.
• Recognition at official scholarship award ceremonies and inclusion in honours programs.
• Additional financial aid or grants for students with demonstrated need.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Must apply for admission to UC San Diego by the official UC application deadline (usually November 30).
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible under the California Dream Act (AB 540 status).
• Must demonstrate strong academic performance (especially for merit-based scholarships like Regents and Chancellor’s).
• Must have a family income of $80,000 or less and qualify for the Blue & Gold Opportunity Plan (for need-based scholarships like CASP).
• Must be a California resident for certain scholarships such as the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship Program (CASP).
• Must complete and submit the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application by April 2.
• Must submit a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form by March 3 (if applying for Cal Grant aid).
• Must enroll full-time and maintain good academic standing at UC San Diego.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• FAFSA or California Dream Act Application.
• High school transcripts.
• Letters of recommendation (for some scholarships).
• Personal statement/essays as required.
• Cal Grant GPA Verification Form (for state aid).
• Proof of residency (for California-specific programs).
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1. Apply for Admission: Submit your University of California (UC) application online using the link at the bottom of this page.
2. Submit the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application
• U.S. citizens and permanent residents: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• AB 540-eligible students: Complete the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
3. Submit the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form: Work with your high school to submit your GPA to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) for Cal Grant consideration.
4. Receive Admission Decision: If admitted, UC San Diego automatically considers eligible students for most merit- and need-based scholarships (no separate application required for many awards).
5. Check for Additional Scholarships
• Some departmental or external scholarships may require separate applications.
• Visit UCSD’s Financial Aid and Scholarships Office website for specific listings.
6. Monitor Your UCSD Applicant Portal: Regularly check your UC San Diego applicant or student portal for notifications, requests for documents, or award decisions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Scholarships are not open to international students: only U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or California Dream Act students may apply.
• Some scholarships (like CASP) are limited to students from specific high schools or community programs in California.
• Most awards are renewable for up to four years.
