Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) has announced an exciting scholarship opportunity for Rwandan students who aspire to pursue a Master’s Degree in key public health and related fields. This initiative is designed to build a strong, skilled workforce committed to improving the health system in Rwanda and beyond. It targets graduates motivated to contribute to innovation, resilience, and sustainable health solutions.

The Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) is the Ministry of Health’s implementing agency and the country’s National Public Health Institute (NPHI), designated by Africa CDC. RBC coordinates national health programs, conducts disease surveillance, manages health data, and leads responses to health emergencies. Through a three-year grant (2025–2028) funded by the European Union under the Team Europe initiative, RBC is strengthening its institutional capacity, developing digital health and analytics capabilities, and transforming into a regional Center of Excellence in Public Health serving both Rwanda and Sub-Saharan Africa.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be a Rwandan citizen residing in Rwanda.
• Commit to stay and work in Rwanda’s health sector during training and for at least three years after graduation.
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Data Sciences, Social Sciences, or related fields.
• Meet admission requirements of the chosen Master’s-awarding university
• Candidates with confirmed admissions in the listed programs are strongly encouraged, with a particular encouragement for women to apply.
• Be not older than 35 years.

• Epidemiology (Emergency Health Management)
• Social and Behavioral Sciences
• Environmental Health
• Public Health (Non-Communicable Diseases, Maternal and Child Health, Community Health)
• Health Informatics and Emergency Health Management

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must submit the following documents:
• Motivation letter
• Certified copies of academic transcripts (from baccalaureate to Master’s level)
• Certified copies of Bachelor’s degree diploma
• Two recommendation letters (at least one from an academic)
• Certified copy of birth certificate
• Curriculum Vitae (including scientific publications, if any, and explanation of any CV gaps)

• The program will be conducted in English; therefore, all applications must be submitted in English.
• The Master’s program duration is up to two years (maximum 30 months).
• This initiative is aligned with Rwanda’s Health Sector Strategic Plan (HSSP-V) and contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
