2026 WMI SCHOLARS PROGRAM – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN


WMI is now calling for applications for the 2026 WMI Scholars Program. This prestigious opportunity supports highly motivated, community-oriented students who face significant financial barriers to accessing higher education. If you are a driven young leader committed to making a positive impact in your community, this scholarship offers a valuable chance to advance your academic journey.

The WMI Scholars Program is an initiative of Wells Mountain Initiative, a global organization dedicated to empowering promising students in developing countries. Through education, leadership training, and community engagement, WMI works with institutions and local partners to nurture the next generation of changemakers. Since 2005, the program has supported more than 900 scholars worldwide. Get practice tests here to help you pass the Provisional Permit exam easily.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
The WMI Scholarship is a partial scholarship designed to support students pursuing their first undergraduate degree or diploma. While it does not cover all tuition or living expenses, it provides essential financial assistance to help bridge the gap for students with limited resources. Scholars also benefit from mentorship, leadership development, a global alumni network, and opportunities to give back through community service.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for the 2026 WMI Scholars Program, applicants must:
• Be 35 years old or younger as of August 1, 2026
• Plan to study in their home country, or within their region if the chosen program is unavailable locally
• Have completed secondary school or be in the final year, with above-average or excellent grades
• Be applying to university or currently in their first undergraduate degree or diploma
• Commit to living and working in their home country or region after graduation
• Demonstrate a strong history of volunteer service and commit to 100 hours of community service annually during studies
• Possess some financial resources, but still require additional support to attend university
• Preferably be a first-generation university student
• NOT be planning to study in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK, or Western Europe
• NOT be a family member of WMI staff or current WMI Scholars

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS
The WMI Scholarship supports any accredited undergraduate or diploma program available in the applicant’s home country or region. This includes fields such as:
• Applied sciences
• Business
• Engineering
• Education
• Health sciences
• Social sciences
• Technology and more

Applicants are encouraged to choose programs aligned with community development and local impact.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
A complete application must include:
• A clear personal photo
• Completed 2026 application form
• Essay (topic stated on the application form)
• Personal essay statement
• Two recommendation letters (on official stationery)
• Official secondary school transcript
• Official grading key for secondary school results
• Official tertiary transcript (if enrolled or previously enrolled)
• Official grading key for tertiary studies
• National exam results
• Official grading key for national exam scores

Important: All grading keys must be issued by the responsible school or government authority. Unofficial grading keys lead to automatic disqualification.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1. Visit the application link at the bottom of this page
2. Create a free account with a username and password.
3. Fill out all required information and upload the necessary documents.
4. Submit your complete application through the system.
5. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been successfully submitted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
To strengthen your application:
• Keep records of all volunteer activities, including dates, photos, and descriptions
• Prepare and translate all documents into English
• Request strong recommendation letters using WMI’s Guidelines for Effective Recommendation Letters
• Selected scholars will be emailed on August 1, and their names will be posted on the WMI website and official Facebook page. Applicants not selected will also be notified.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
All applications must be submitted not later than March 1, 2026
