CALL FOR APPLICATIONS AT AFRICA HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITY (AHSU) 2026


 

Africa Health Sciences University (AHSU) is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Midwifery for the 2026–2027 Academic Year. This fully supported program is designed for motivated and passionate students who aspire to become highly skilled, compassionate, and professional midwives capable of contributing meaningfully to maternal and newborn health outcomes. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this life-changing academic and professional opportunity.

 

The program is offered by Africa Health Sciences University (AHSU), a leading institution committed to excellence in health sciences education, research, and community impact. Implemented in collaboration with national education and health stakeholders, the Bachelor of Midwifery program combines strong academic foundations, hands-on clinical training, and research exposure to prepare graduates for service within Rwanda and beyond.

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants will benefit from a comprehensive scholarship package that includes:

  • Course materials, including a laptop for use during the program

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold an A-Level or a high school diploma obtained within the last two years
  • Have at least two principal passes:
    1. Biology (Grade A or B), and
    2. Chemistry (Grade A, B, or C)
  • Have at least subsidiary passes (A–D) in Mathematics, Physics, or Geography
  • Accepted subject combinations include PCB, MCB, or BCG (or equivalent)
  • Foreign qualifications must have NESA equivalency (where applicable)
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants will be required to submit the following documents through the online application portal:

  • Cover Letter
  • National ID or Passport
  • Certified Academic Transcripts
  • National Examination Results or NESA Equivalency (for foreign diplomas)
  • Personal Statement (explaining at least three reasons for suitability and intended impact on Rwanda’s health system)
  • Details and contact information of an academic mentor (if applicable)
