SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants may be considered for one or more of the following scholarships, subject to eligibility and selection results:

  • Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B)
  • Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship
  • Sustainable Coastal Development Scholarship of Xiamen University
  • Xiamen University Scholarship for New Students

Scholarship benefits may include:

  • Full or partial tuition fee coverage
  • Monthly living stipend (depending on scholarship category)
  • Accommodation subsidy (for selected scholarships)

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

General Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens, generally under 45 years of age as of 1 September 2026
  • Be physically and mentally healthy
  • Hold a valid regular passport
  • Be a graduating undergraduate student or hold a Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Meet the age and specific conditions of the scholarship applied for

English-medium programs:

  • TOEFL iBT ≥ 80 (DI Code: C310), or
  • IELTS Academic ≥ 6.0, or
  • Proof of English as the medium of instruction, or
  • Equivalent certificates recognized by XMU
  • Applicants from English-speaking countries are exempt

 

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Xiamen University offers a wide range of Chinese-medium and English-medium Master’s programs across disciplines including Humanities, Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Economics, Management, Law, Education, and Arts.



REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must prepare and upload the following documents via the XMU Online Application System:

  • Passport bio-data page (valid at least through 31 October 2026)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Parents’ identity documents
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and complete academic transcripts
  • Certificate of expected graduation (for final-year students)
  • Language proficiency certificates
  • Two letters of recommendation from associate professors or professors
  • Personal statement (minimum 1,000 words)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Pre-acceptance letter (optional)
  • Physical examination record (valid for 6 months)
  • Financial Support Guarantee Statement
  • No Criminal Record Report (issued within 6 months)
  • Portfolio (mandatory for art applicants; optional supporting materials for others)

All documents not in Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Program Duration:
    • Chinese-medium Master’s: 3 years (2 years for International Chinese Language Education)
    • English-medium Master’s: 2 years
  • Tuition Fees:
    • Chinese-medium: RMB 26,000–30,000/year
    • English-medium: RMB 39,000–45,000/year
  • Accommodation, food, and insurance costs are borne by students unless covered by scholarships
  • Enrollment takes place in September 2026
