MASTERCARD FULL SCHOLARSHIP AT THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT (AUB)


Applications are now open for full scholarships for the Fall 2026–2027 academic year, supporting talented and motivated students to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies. These scholarships aim to empower young leaders whose academic excellence and leadership potential exceed their financial means, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.

 

The scholarship opportunities are offered in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. Together, these institutions are committed to providing high-quality education, leadership development, and holistic student support for scholars from Africa and select regions.

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

The scholarship provides comprehensive support, which includes:

  • Full tuition coverage
  • On-campus accommodation (for on-campus programs)
  • Living expenses and basic needs support
  • Health insurance
  • Participation in leadership development programs, workshops, and additional learning experiences required by the Scholars Program

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • On-Campus Master’s Scholarships:
    • Citizens of countries on the African continent
    • Citizens of Lebanon
    • Refugees living in Lebanon or on the African continent

 

  • PhD Scholarships:
    • Citizens of countries on the African continent
    • Refugees living on the African continent

 

  • Online Master’s Scholarships:
    • Citizens of countries on the African continent

 

  • Undergraduate Scholarships:
    • Restricted to students from African countries (selection through AUB partner organizations)

 

General Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be 35 years old or younger
  • Demonstrate strong academic standing in their previous degree
  • Show talent that exceeds financial resources
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to community engagement
  • Commit to attending required leadership training and workshops
  • Demonstrate Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE) by the specified deadline

 

Accepted English proficiency tests include:
AUB-EN Test, TOEFL iBT, IELTS (Academic), GRE (Verbal), GMAT (Verbal), or Duolingo English Test (DET).

On-Campus Graduate Programs

  • Master’s degrees (Thesis and Non-Thesis tracks)
  • PhD programs across selected disciplines

 

Online Graduate Programs

  • Master’s in Engineering Management (Online)
  • Master’s in Computing in Education (Online)
  • Master of Business Administration (Online)
  • Master's in Nursing Administration and Management (Online)
  • Executive Master's in Healthcare Leadership (Online)

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants are required to upload all supporting documents requested in the AUB online graduate application, which may include:

  • Academic transcripts and certificates
  • Identification or proof of refugee status (if applicable)
  • English proficiency test scores (RUSE)
  • Any additional documents required by the chosen academic program

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

On-Campus Master’s and PhD Programs

  1. Complete the AUB online graduate application and upload all supporting documents by the deadline.
  2. Select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the Financial Opportunities section.
  3. (Master’s only) Complete the AUB Financial Aid Application, available after submitting the graduate application.

 

Important Note:
An application is considered complete only after submission of both the AUB online graduate application and the AUB Financial Aid Application.

 

Online Master’s Programs

  1. Complete the AUB online graduate application and upload all required documents by the deadline.
  2. Submit RUSE scores by the specified date.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

a)          Undergraduate scholarships are restricted to students from African countries and are awarded through AUB partner institutions on the African continent.

b)           English Language Exemptions:

  • Undergraduate: Applicants who studied at least two years in recognized institutions in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand; or completed two years of higher education with English as the primary language of instruction; or who enroll only in Arabic language courses.
  •  Graduate: Applicants who completed, within the last five years, a degree at an accredited institution where English is the sole language of instruction and meet AUB RUSE requirements.

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE

  • On-Campus Master’s & PhD Programs: March 12, 2026
  • Online Master’s Programs: May 18, 2026
  • RUSE Submission Deadlines:
    • On-campus programs: May 31, 2026
    • Online programs: June 30, 2026
