The Catholic University of Rwanda in partnership with the Young Women's Christian Association of Rwanda (YWCA) and OXFAM, with funding from the Scottish Government is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for undergraduate programs.

The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) is a private institution of higher education in Rwanda, affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Established in 2010 by the Episcopal Conference of Rwanda, the university is located in the town of Butare (also known as Huye), in the Southern Province of Rwanda. CUR is committed to providing high-quality education in various fields, integrating academic rigor with Catholic values and principles.

OXFAM is a global organization founded in 1942 that works to alleviate poverty, fight inequality, and promote social justice. The Young Women’s Christian Association of Rwanda (YWCA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls through social, economic, and educational programs. It focuses on gender equality, health, and leadership development, aiming to uplift communities by advocating for women’s rights and providing resources for sustainable growth and independence.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:

• Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, and
• Human Nutrition.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The following are the criteria for selecting the admissible candidates:

1. Application Requirements for YWCA Scholarship:

• Achieved a minimum score of 40/60 in the National Exam (Sciences Options)
• Be a Rwandan
• Be a girl between 18-25 years of age (Except for persons with disabilities, where the age limit is extended to 30 years)
• Completed secondary school within in academic year 2021-2022 and before,
• Girls with any type of vulnerability are encouraged (Disability, ten and single mothers, etc),

2. University application requirements:

• For the Computer Science program: Having an Advanced Certificate in one of the combinations including Mathematics or Physics as a core subjects (MCE, PCM, MPG, MPC, PCB) or TVET in Computer Science and TTC in Sciences with Mathematics or Physics options and other related disciplines and at least achieved a minimum score of 40/60 at National Exam.

• For Biomedical Laboratory Sciences and Human Nutrition Programs: Two principal passes with at least Grade C in Biology and Chemistry, Completed general Secondary education with one of the following principal I subjects: PCB, MCB, BCG

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Notarized certificate of secondary school, or equivalency
• Copy of national ID,
• colored Passport-sized photo,
• proof of disability if applicable)
