JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MEXT) SCHOLARSHIP


The Government of Japan invites highly motivated international students to apply for the MEXT Scholarship Program, a fully funded opportunity to pursue both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Japan. This scholarship supports students who wish to study at Japanese universities while contributing to the development of their home countries and strengthening international cooperation.Register now for new programs at MK SCHOLARS

The program is administered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan, in collaboration with Japanese embassies worldwide and national universities in Japan. Through this initiative, selected students receive access to world-class education, cultural exchange opportunities, and advanced academic training in one of the most innovative education systems globally.

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels will receive:

·       Full tuition fee coverage

·       Monthly living allowance

·       Round-trip international airfare (economy class)

·       Free preparatory Japanese language training (for undergraduate and selected postgraduate students)

·       No application, admission, or examination fees at Japanese universities

·       Access to high-quality academic, research, and laboratory facilities

·       Opportunity to study in internationally recognized Japanese universities

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Undergraduate Applicants

·       Must be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan

·       Age: approximately 17 to 25 years old

·       Must have completed 12 years of formal education (high school level)

·       Strong academic performance, especially in relevant subjects

·       Physically and mentally fit for study abroad

·       Willingness to study Japanese language and culture

Postgraduate Applicants (Research / Master’s / PhD)

·       Must hold a Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s/Research) or Master’s degree (for PhD)

·       Age: generally under 35 years old

·       Strong academic background and research interest

·       Ability to conduct study or research in English or Japanese

·       Research proposal required (especially for research students)

·       Good health condition

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1.     Check the announcement from the Japanese Embassy in your country

2.     Download official MEXT application forms

3.     Prepare and submit required documents to the Embassy

4.     Sit for written examinations (varies by level and field)

5.     Attend an interview if shortlisted

6.     Embassy-level screening and selection

7.     Final approval by MEXT in Japan

8.     University placement and admission confirmation

9.     Departure to Japan for studies
