The University of Global Health Equity is inviting qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the position of Research Coordinator under its Centre for Equity in Global Surgery. Based in Butaro, Kigali, and other study sites across Rwanda, this role supports a major NIH-funded project focused on expanding breast biopsy capacity nationwide. UGHE, an initiative of Partners In Health, is committed to transforming global health delivery through education, research, and community-centered approaches.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Master’s degree in Global Health Delivery, Global Surgery, or a related field

·       Demonstrated expertise in global surgery and healthcare research

·       Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

·       Experience with systematic and scoping reviews

·       Proven experience in research coordination, preferably in healthcare settings

·       Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills

·       Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SPSS, R, or NVivo

·       Excellent English language proficiency

·       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

·       Experience in global surgery policy and advocacy is an added advantage

·       Social media skills are a plus

 

AVAILABLE POSITIONS

·       Research Coordinator (1 Position)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research Coordinator will undertake the following responsibilities:

1. Research Coordination (50%)

·       Coordinate and supervise research activities on breast biopsy capacity across Rwanda

·       Lead data collection, cleaning, analysis, and interpretation

·       Evaluate barriers and feasibility of decentralized breast biopsy services

·       Contribute to research publications, proposals, and reports

·       Support grant applications and funding opportunities

·       Mentor students, fellows, and data collectors

·       Coordinate partnerships with district hospitals and stakeholders

·       Manage meetings, logistics, and progress reporting

·       Ensure compliance with project timelines, IRB requirements, and NIH reporting

2. Global Surgery Program Coordination (50%)

·       Support coordination of surgical training programs and visiting faculty

·       Contribute to development and delivery of programs such as:

o   Non-technical Skills for Surgery

o   Global Surgery Leadership Programs

o   Online Global Surgery courses

o   Community engagement initiatives

3. Additional Responsibilities

·       Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Centre for Equity in Global Surgery
