AHSU is a leading health sciences institution in Rwanda, dedicated to training skilled healthcare professionals. Our midwifery program, launched in 2024, offers a 4-year course to prepare future midwives with the knowledge and practical skills needed to transform maternal and newborn care in Rwanda and beyond.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS :
This scholarship is designed to fully support your education, allowing you to concentrate on your studies without financial worries. It covers:
• Tuition and housing fees
• Course materials, including a laptop for use during the program
• Accommodation during your studies
• A monthly living stipend to help with daily expenses
• Practical training exposure, with a focus on hands-on midwifery practice, routine care, and life-saving skills
• Research opportunities, promoting interdisciplinary and evidence-based studies
• Adherence to national standards and international midwifery competencies, as set by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet all the following requirements:
• Candidates must have completed their A-levels or high school diploma within the last two years.
• Applicants should have achieved at least two principal passes with grades of A or B in relevant subjects. One of these passes must be in Biology, while the second should be in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or Geography from subject combinations such as PCB, MCB, BCG, or equivalent combinations.
• Obtaining an equivalency certificate from NESA (if applicable) is required for those with foreign qualifications.
• The program strongly encourages applications from female candidates.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong skills in both written and spoken English.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
The applications are now open for the second cohort of our Bachelor of Science with Honours in Midwifery program, which will begin on September 1, 2025. We welcome motivated individuals passionate about improving maternal and child health to join this rewarding academic journey.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
To apply for the midwifery program, candidates need to submit the following documents through the online application form via the link given at the bottom. Please make sure that all documents are in English or have official notarized translations to English:
• A Cover Letter addressed to the admissions team, clearly explaining your interest in joining the midwifery program and what motivates you to pursue this field of study.
• A detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) that highlights your academic background, work experience, and any other relevant achievements or skills.
• Certified Academic Transcripts from high school you have attended, showing your performance and qualifications.
• National Exam Scores or an equivalent document from the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) for candidates with foreign diplomas. If you need equivalence, it can be obtained through IremboGov.
• A clear copy of your Passport or National ID (for Rwandan citizens) as proof of identity.
• The names and contact details of two referees, who should be either academic or professional mentors, and can provide information about your qualifications and character.
To ensure a smooth and complete application process, make sure you have all these documents ready before starting.
ADMISSIONS PROCESS
To apply, submit your online application through the scholarship link at the bottom and include all required documents. Shortlisted applicants will take an entrance exam, and top performers will be invited for interviews. Applications that are late or incomplete will not be accepted.
