ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The WMI Scholars Program supports students from developing countries who meet the following criteria:

• Age: 35 years or younger as of August 1, 2025.
• Education: Completed or in the final year of secondary school with good grades.
• University Enrollment: Applying for or already studying for their first undergraduate degree.
• Study Location: Studying in their home country or another developing country.
• Future Plans: Committed to living and working in their home country after graduation.
• Volunteer Experience: Has done volunteer work before applying and will continue volunteering during studies.
• Financial Need: Has some funding for education but cannot attend or continue university without assistance. The WMI scholarship is not a full scholarship and may not cover all expenses.

This program is for students who are dedicated to making a difference in their communities.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
WMI Scholars Program aims to support students in pursuing the education they need to make a real difference in their communities, though it has available programs such as:

• Education: inspiring youth to become teachers and educators.
• Engineering: engineering disciplines to support infrastructure development.
• Social Sciences: Fields like sociology, political science, and development studies to address social issues are available in WMI.
• Business: Degrees in business administration to foster economic growth.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
The following are required elements for an application to be considered complete:

• Clear personal photo
• Essay; the topic is stated on the application form.
• The application form is stated in 2025.
• Personal essay statement.
• Two recommendation letters. ( Make use of guidelines for effective application recommendation letters found a here )
• Official transcript of grades from secondary school.
• Official grading key to interpret secondary school grades.
• Official transcript of grades from tertiary studies especially when applicable.
• Official results from your national exam.
• Official grading key to interpret scores on your national exam.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
Click the scholarship link at the bottom of this page to access the application portal. Create a free account using a username and password. Fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents. Once you submit your application online, it will be reviewed. You will receive an email confirming that your application has been successfully submitted.

TIPS FOR BECOMING A COMPETITIVE APPLICANT:
The following are suggestions to enhance your application:

• Record all of your service activities (dates, activities, time spent, photographs, etc.)
• Collect your secondary school transcript, national exam results and grading keys to interpret your results
• Request two letters of recommendation on official stationery from two people who know you professionally/personally and can showcase the reasons you deserve this scholarship
• Have all of your documents translated into English

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• The selected WMI scholars will be emailed on August 1; those not selected will be notified after August 1.
• Scholars planning to study in the United states, Canada, Australia, UK or Western Europe will not qualify for a WMI scholarship.

The application deadline for the 2025 WMI Scholars Program application is March 1, 2025
