The undergraduate programs at USTC are 4-year full-time study programs, and classes are mainly delivered in Chinese, with some taught in English or bilingually. Bachelor's degree and graduation certificate will be awarded when the student finish all the required course work and pass the thesis defense.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
To be eligible for USTC's undergraduate programs, international applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Nationality and Passport : Be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport.
• Health : Be in good physical and mental health.
• Education : Hold a senior high school graduation certificate (or provide a pre-graduation certificate if graduating soon).
• Residency Requirements: Emigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who are applying as international students must have obtained their current foreign citizenship before April 30, 2016.
• Visa Eligibility : Applicants must be eligible to obtain the necessary student visa (X1 visa) to study in China.
• Language Proficiency : Pass the new HSK Level 5 exam. Waivers may be granted for:
-Native Chinese speakers, but also be fluent in English. The two languages are mostly used complementary.
-Applicants who can provide proof of studying at a Chinese-medium high school.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS :
• Photocopy of passport
• Application Form for International Students (Undergraduate Program)
• Notarized photocopies of senior high school graduation certificate and transcripts
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form
• Photocopies of Certificate of new HSK Level 5 and transcripts (Original certificate and transcripts are required upon registration if admitted); or a proof of studying at a high school where classes are taught in Chinese.
• Recommendation letter from senior high school.
• Applicants under 18 by Sept. 1st, 2021 should submit a Guardian Statement
• For emigrants, if you used to be a citizen of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan, but are now a citizen of another country and want to study in China, you need to prove it. You'll need documents showing you changed citizenship, gave up your Chinese citizenship, your travel history, and that you've lived abroad for at least two years.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES :

The application process for USTC's undergraduate programs involves a few key steps. First, applicants must complete the online application through the specified link at the bottom of the page. Following the online application period, eligible candidates will be invited to participate in an entrance examination and interview, typically held in April or May as to announced later. Finally, admission decisions are made in June, and successful applicants will be notified accordingly. Click the link provided at the bottom of the page for guidance.

• Help for International Students: We want to make sure you have a great time at USTC! We have programs to help international students get used to living in China, including language support and fun activities.
• To study at USTC, it's important to know some Chinese because most classes are taught in that language. A few classes are in English, or both, but Chinese is used most often. The better you get to know Chinese, the more prepared you'll be for your studies.
