The TANDEM Scholarship is funded and administered by the German University Foundation (Deutsche Universitätsstiftung – DUS). Through this initiative, scholars are paired with experienced university professors who serve as mentors, helping students navigate academic life, career planning, and personal development. The program also offers access to valuable professional networks, training seminars, and study-related resources.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants will receive the following benefits:

·       Individual mentoring by a university professor with relevant expertise and local knowledge.

·       Continuous support for the mentoring relationship by the German University Foundation (DUS).

·       Participation in mandatory seminars held twice annually covering:

o   Mentoring opportunities and responsibilities

o   Self-management and learning management

o   Presentation skills

o   Job application training

o   Business etiquette and professional communication

o   Conflict management

·       One-on-one coaching session with a professional coach during studies.

·       Reimbursement of travel expenses related to seminars and TANDEM activities.

·       Participation in scientific events and academic networking opportunities.

·       Annual access budget for study-related expenses.

·       Digital package for purchasing digital technology.

·       Assistance with student housing search in Germany.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Be starting studies in the Summer Semester 2026 or Winter Semester 2026/27.

·       Come from a parental home where neither parent holds an academic degree.

·       Have secured admission to:

o   A Bachelor's degree program at a public German university or college (excluding dual-study and private institutions), or

o   A State Examination program at a German university or college.

·       Hold a university entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent) with at least a good academic record.

·       Be applying for undergraduate-level studies. Master's students are not eligible.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

The scholarship supports students enrolled in:

·       Bachelor's Degree Programs at German public universities and colleges.

·       State Examination Programs offered by German public higher education institutions.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:

·       Letter of Motivation (maximum one page) explaining expectations from the scholarship.

·       Curriculum Vitae (CV) in tabular format (maximum two pages).

·       High School Diploma or University Entrance Qualification Certificate.

·       Admission Notice or Enrollment Certificate from a German university or college.
