Applications are now open for Project Assistant positions at Raising The Village (RTV) Rwanda. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified and community-driven professionals who are passionate about poverty reduction, rural development, and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level. Raising The Village (RTV) is an international non-profit organization committed to building sustainable pathways out of ultra-poverty through community-driven, data-informed, and partnership-based interventions. Working closely with last-mile communities in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, RTV designs and implements programs aimed at increasing household incomes, strengthening resilience, and improving long-term wellbeing. The Project Assistants will work under the supervision of the Project Officer and play a vital role in supporting project delivery, community engagement, government coordination, reporting, and monitoring activities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be considered for the Project Assistant position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Humanities, Community Development, or a related field

·       A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture is an added advantage but not mandatory

·       Have at least two (2) years of relevant work experience at the village level

·       Demonstrate experience working with and coordinating local government institutions and officials, particularly at Sector and Cell levels (mandatory)

·       Possess strong training and facilitation skills

·       Have strong written and verbal communication skills in English

·       Be fluent in the local languages spoken in RTV’s areas of operation

·       Be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel

·       Have a good understanding of community-based development principles

·       Be able to work independently and as part of a team

·       Be flexible, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced and challenging environment

·       Be physically fit and able to work in remote and hilly terrain

·       Be available to travel up to 90% of the time

·       Be able to ride a motorbike and possess a valid Rwandan rider’s permit (mandatory)

AVAILABLE POSITIONS

Raising The Village is recruiting for the following position:

·       Experience Required: Minimum 2 years

·       Travel Requirement: Up to 90%

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting project implementation, community engagement, reporting, and monitoring activities. Key duties and responsibilities include:

Project Implementation

·       Conduct project design review meetings with partner villages and provide feedback to improve project designs and budgets before implementation

·       Coordinate and co-facilitate training activities in areas such as financial literacy, mindset change, water and sanitation, village savings and loan associations, agriculture, livestock care, and health outreach

·       Implement RTV project methodologies aimed at increasing household income and reducing extreme poverty

·       Prepare and submit lists of required goods and services for project implementation to the procurement and logistics officer

·       Verify goods and inputs before distribution

·       Conduct project follow-up visits and provide support to community groups and households to ensure continued compliance and implementation

·       Identify project risks and challenges and propose mitigation measures and recommendations for improvement

·       Hold regular meetings with leadership and community members to assess project performance, participation, and feedback

Government and Community Coordination

·       Build and maintain strong working relationships with Cell-level government officials, including SEDOs and Executive Secretaries

·       Work closely with community leadership structures such as Inteko z’abaturage, Incuti z’umuryango, Abajyanama b’Ubuzima, farmer promoters, para-social workers, community coaches, and technical coaches

·       Mobilize households and communities for trainings, meetings, and program activities

·       Support training of community and cell-level actors on RTV methodology, M&E processes, field protocols, and use of technology

·       Provide on-the-job support and follow-up to community and government actors during project implementation

·       Promote positive collaboration and trust between RTV staff, local authorities, and community structures

Reporting and Administration

·       Develop and manage work plans

·       Complete weekly field reports and support donor reporting and proposal development when required

·       Attend weekly staff meetings and cluster team meetings to share progress, challenges, and next steps

·       Prepare weekly financial requests, submissions, and accountabilities to the Senior Project Officer

·       Take and share photographs for the organization’s data repository

Monitoring and Evaluation

·       Support field monitoring activities such as attendance tracking, basic data collection, household follow-up, and reporting using RTV tools and systems

·       Provide feedback and recommendations to the Project Officer, Senior Project Officer, and program team to improve project implementation

·       Suggest activities that need to be revised, repeated, or introduced to improve sustainability and strengthen the impact of RTV programs

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
