The major scholarships available include the University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship, Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship, and the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship. 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Depending on the scholarship, successful applicants may receive:

·       Full or partial tuition fee coverage

·       Living allowance (stipend)

·       Health insurance

·       Return airfare (Manaaki Scholarship)

·       Travel insurance

·       Research and thesis support

·       Establishment allowance

·       Student Services Fee coverage

·       Up to NZ$35,468 per year tax-free stipend for PhD students

·       Up to NZ$10,000 tuition fee contribution for undergraduate and master's students  

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

·       Be international students.

·       Meet the academic admission requirements of the University of Auckland.

·       Meet English language requirements.

·       Hold or obtain an admission offer where required.

·       Apply for an eligible Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD programme.

·       Demonstrate excellent academic performance.

·       Meet the specific eligibility requirements of the chosen scholarship.

For Doctoral Scholarship applicants:

·       Apply for an eligible PhD programme.

·       Have strong research experience.

·       Hold a Bachelor's Honours or Master's degree with excellent grades.

·       Indicate scholarship consideration during the PhD admission application.

For International Student Excellence Scholarship applicants:

·       Be new international students.

·       Hold a conditional or unconditional admission offer.

·       Enroll full-time in an eligible programme lasting at least one year.

·       Maintain a strong academic GPA.

For Manaaki Scholarship applicants:

·       Be from an eligible country.

·       Meet country-specific eligibility requirements.

·       Have relevant work experience (where applicable).

·       Commit to returning home after completing studies.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship

1.     Choose an eligible PhD programme.

2.     Contact a potential supervisor.

3.     Prepare your research proposal and Statement of Research Intent.

4.     Apply for PhD admission through the University of Auckland application portal.

5.     Select "Yes" when asked if you wish to be considered for the Doctoral Scholarship.

6.     Upload all required documents before the application deadline.

Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship

1.     Check whether your country is eligible.

2.     Review programme eligibility requirements.

3.     Wait for the official 2027 application opening.

4.     Complete the online Manaaki Scholarship application.

5.     Participate in interviews and assessments if shortlisted.

6.     Apply for admission only when instructed by the Manaaki Scholarship programme.

International Student Excellence Scholarship

1.     Apply for admission to an eligible programme.

2.     Obtain a conditional or unconditional offer.

3.     Complete the online scholarship application.

4.     Submit your scholarship essay and referee details.

5.     Upload all required documents before the deadline.
