EAC STUDENT MOBILITY FULL SCHOLARSHIP 2026/2027


Applications are now open for the EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Scheme 2026/2027. Eligible students from East African Community (EAC) Partner States are invited to apply for fully supported study opportunities at selected universities across the region. A total of 197 scholarship slots are available for Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programmes. Join our Coaching class for the Duolingo English Test

 

The scholarship is offered through the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) in collaboration with 28 partner universities across Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. The programme promotes regional integration by enabling students to pursue higher education in an EAC Partner State other than their own through a cost-sharing arrangement involving IUCEA, host universities, and students.

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

The scholarship provides the following benefits:

 

·       Host universities waive tuition and examination fees.

·       IUCEA covers travel expenses.

·       IUCEA provides health insurance.

·       Master's and PhD students receive a research lump-sum support.

·       Students benefit from studying at leading universities across six EAC Partner States.

 

Note: Students or their guardians are responsible for accommodation, daily living expenses, and other university fees not covered by the scholarship. Join our Coaching class for the Duolingo English Test

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must:

 

·       Be a national and resident of an EAC Partner State.

·       Apply for an eligible programme in an EAC Partner State other than their own country.

·       Meet the admission requirements of the selected host university.

·       Have excellent academic performance.

·       Hold at least an Upper Second-Class Honours, Distinction, or equivalent for Master's and PhD programmes.

·       Be below 35 years of age for Master's applicants.

·       Be below 45 years of age for PhD applicants.

·       Work experience is an added advantage for PhD applicants.

 

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Scholarships are available for:

 

·       Diploma Programmes

·       Bachelor's Degree Programmes

·       Master's Degree Programmes

·       PhD Programmes

 

The programmes are offered by 28 partner universities located in:

 

·       Burundi

·       Kenya

·       Rwanda

·       South Sudan

·       Tanzania

·       Uganda

 

A total of 164 academic programmes are available across various fields of study. Join our Coaching class for the Duolingo English Test

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must prepare the following documents:

 

·       Letter of motivation.

·       Updated and signed Curriculum Vitae (CV).

·       Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.

·       University application form and required attachments.

·       Recent passport-size colour photograph.

·       Proof of nationality (National ID, Passport, or Birth Certificate).

·       Proof of residency issued by the local government.

·       Evidence of leadership, community service, awards, or achievements (if available).

·       Other supporting documents such as medical reports or letters of reference (where applicable).

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1.     Choose an eligible programme and host university listed in the official Call for Applications.

2.     Prepare all required application documents.

3.     Complete the online scholarship application form through the application portal at the bottom

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

·       Do not apply directly to participating universities.

·       IUCEA processes university admissions on behalf of qualified applicants.

·       There is no application fee.

·       Applicants may apply to more than one university or programme, but only one scholarship will be awarded.

·       Foreign qualifications must be equated by the relevant national higher education authority.

·       Documents not written in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.

·       Students must study in an EAC Partner State other than their own.

·       Candidates who have already received admission to a participating university are still eligible to apply for the scholarship.

20 August 2026 (Midnight EAT).
