Applications are invited from international students seeking a fully funded undergraduate education at Berea College in Kentucky, USA. Admitted international students receive scholarships and financial aid covering 100% of tuition, housing, food, and fees, making Berea College a valuable opportunity for students with strong academic potential and significant financial need. Berea College is a private liberal arts college with a long history of welcoming students from around the world. The College combines academic education with its Work Program, allowing students to gain practical work experience while contributing to the college community.

International students are required to participate in the College's Work Program. Students must work at least 10 hours per week, while most international students work approximately 15–20 hours per week and earn more than US$2,000 during the academic year.
Students may also work during holiday periods and summer, when they may work up to 40 hours per week.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must:
· Be an international student applying for undergraduate admission.
· Have completed or be completing the required secondary education in their home country.
· Demonstrate strong academic potential.
· Demonstrate financial need and limited financial resources.
· Meet the required English-language or standardized-test requirements.
· Submit an eligible test score taken less than two years before application of either Duolingo, IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, SAT & ACT. Register for our Coaching class for the IELTS

Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must submit the following through the online application portal:
1. Personal Essay
· The essay should be 2–5 pages.
· It should discuss:
o Your educational and life experiences
o What you plan to do after completing your education
o Whether you plan to return to your home country and why
o How you have positively impacted your community
2. Official Secondary School Records
· These may include O-Level, A-Level, leaving examination results, national examination results or other official secondary-school records.
· Documents not originally in English should be translated into English and certified by school officials.
3. Teacher Recommendation Form
· The recommendation should preferably be submitted through Berea's official online form.
4. Financial Resource Recommendation Form
· Must be completed by a school administrator, employer, religious leader or another appropriate person who can comment on the applicant's personal and financial resources and barriers to higher education.
· It cannot be completed by a close relative.
· It should be written in English.
5. Official Test Score
· IELTS, Duolingo, TOEFL, SAT or ACT.
· The score must generally be less than two years old. Register for our coaching class for the Duolingo English Test
6. International Financial Questionnaire
· This must be completed through the Berea College application portal.
· Berea does not accept the CSS Profile or ISFAA as substitutes for its required form
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applicants should follow these steps:
Step 1: Take an approved test
Take the Duolingo English Test, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT or ACT and make sure your score meets the required minimum. Register for our Coaching class for the IELTS
Step 2: Prepare academic records
Obtain your official secondary-school records
Step 3: Complete the online application
Complete the Berea College Application for Admission for International Students. There is no application fee.
Step 4: Submit recommendations
Arrange for your teacher recommendation and Financial Resource Recommendation Form to be submitted.
Step 5: Complete the financial questionnaire
Submit the International Financial Questionnaire through the Berea College application portal.
Step 6: Submit the complete application
Ensure that all required documents and information are submitted before the international application deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In a typical academic year, approximately 120 international students from more than 70 countries are enrolled at Berea College.
Enrollment Deposit
Admitted international students are normally expected to pay a US$2,200 enrollment deposit to confirm their enrollment.
Students who cannot afford the full deposit may have their financial circumstances considered individually. Berea may adjust the required amount or provide additional financial aid as appropriate.
The deposit can also be used toward certain expenses during the student's four years at Berea.
Bank Statements
Applicants do not need to submit bank statements when completing the International Financial Questionnaire.
International Students Can Reapply
Students who are not admitted may apply again for a future academic year. Only one application may be submitted for each academic year, but applicants may strengthen a future application by improving their academic profile, English test score or other application components.
Work Program
The Berea College Work Program is an important part of the College's educational and financial-aid system. International students can participate in the program without a separate work permit because of its role within the College's educational program.
Students must work at least 10 hours per week, and most international students work 15–20 hours per week during the academic year.
No English Test Exemption
International applicants must submit an approved test score even if they already speak English or studied at a school where English was the language of instruction. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
