The University of Rwanda (UR) is inviting qualified students to apply for admission into its undergraduate academic programs for the 2026/2027 academic year. The online application system is open from 22 September 2026 to 5 October 2026. The admission opportunity is offered by the University of Rwanda across its seven (7) Colleges and the Rwanda Institute for Computing (RIC). For applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda, examination information will be retrieved from the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) during the application process.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements established for their preferred undergraduate programs.

The following should be noted:

·       Applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda will have their national examination results retrieved from NESA.

·       Eligibility for programs will depend on the applicant's Senior Six combination and academic results.

·       International applicants and Rwandan applicants who studied under a foreign or international education system must have an official Equivalence Certificate. Contact us on WhatsApp at 0798611161 (MK SCHOLARS) for assistance with the Equivalence Certificate 

·       Admission is competitive because programs have limited places.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

All undergraduate programs are available across the University's seven Colleges and the Rwanda Institute for Computing (RIC). Check here

The programs available to each applicant will depend on their Senior Six combination and eligibility requirements. During the online application, the system will display the programs for which the applicant is eligible.

Each applicant may select up to three (3) programs of their choice. Register for 2nd intake of our coaching class for the Duolingo English Test  

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Before starting the application, applicants should have:

·       A personal and accessible email address

·       A valid National ID

·       A personal mobile phone number

·       Senior Six Index Number for applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda

International applicants and applicants holding Equivalence Certificates may be required to provide and upload:

·       Equivalence Certificate

·       Senior Six Certificate

·       Passport copy for international applicants

·       National ID for Rwandan applicants

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Step 1: Generate Your UR Reference Number

Applicants should access the official University of Rwanda application portal at the bottom of this page.

Applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda should enter their Senior Six Index Number. The system will retrieve available information from NESA. Applicants should review the displayed information, complete the remaining fields, and submit.

After successful submission, the applicant's UR Reference Number and PIN will be generated and sent to their personal email address.

International applicants and Rwandan applicants who studied under a foreign or international education system should complete the online application form. Their UR Reference Number and PIN will also be sent to their email after successful submission.

Step 2: Complete and Submit the Application

For applicants who completed Senior Six in Rwanda, their NESA examination results will be displayed in the application system.

Based on the applicant's Senior Six combination, the system will display eligible programs. Applicants can select up to three programs.

Applicants may change their selected programs during the application period, provided that the changes are made before the application deadline.

International applicants and applicants with Equivalence Certificates must upload all required supporting documents.

The application can only be submitted after the application fee has been paid and the payment is reflected in the system.

After successful submission, applicants will receive an email notification together with a confirmation letter.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and is as follows:

·       Rwandan and EAC citizens: FRW 5,000

·       International applicants: FRW 6,000

Payment should be made through the Urubuto System, using the applicant's UR Reference Number as the Payer Code.

·       MTN Mobile Payment using *775*5#

·       BK App / Internet Banking

·       Online payment through Urubuto Pay
