CHANCEN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 2027 AT PROTESTANT UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA (PUR)


Applications are now open for the Chancen International Rwanda Tuition Fee Funding Opportunity for the January 2027 intake at the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR). This opportunity is designed for eligible Rwandan students seeking financial support to pursue undergraduate studies in selected academic programs through an Income Share Agreement (ISA). Register for 2nd intake of our coaching class for the Duolingo English Test  

 

The opportunity is offered through a partnership between the Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) and Chancen International Rwanda. Under the Income Share Agreement model, Chancen International covers students’ tuition fees throughout their studies. After completing their education, beneficiaries agree to repay a specified percentage of their income under the terms of the agreement.

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants will benefit from the following:

 

·       Full tuition fee coverage: Chancen International Rwanda will pay the tuition fees for the entire duration of the student's studies.

·       Access to higher education: The program provides an opportunity for eligible Rwandan students to pursue undergraduate degrees in selected fields.

·       Income Share Agreement (ISA): Students repay an agreed percentage of their income after completing their studies, according to the terms and conditions of the agreement.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

 

1.     Nationality: Applicants must be Rwandan citizens.

2.     Gender consideration: Female applicants are particularly encouraged, as being female is considered an advantage.

3.     Academic qualifications for 2025 and 2026 graduates: Applicants must hold a secondary school certificate and have obtained an average score of at least 50%, qualifying them for higher education.

4.     Academic qualifications for 2024 graduates and earlier: Applicants must have obtained at least two Principal Passes in their secondary school examinations.

5.     Applicants educated outside Rwanda: Those who completed secondary education outside Rwanda must provide an equivalence certificate confirming the recognition of their academic qualifications in Rwanda.

 

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

The tuition fee funding opportunity is available for the following four undergraduate degree programs at the Protestant University of Rwanda:

 

1.     Bachelor of Development Studies in Peace Building and Development

2.     Bachelor of Arts in Natural Resources and Environmental Management

3.     Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and Management

4.     Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Management

 

Applicants should carefully review the programs and select the one that aligns with their academic interests and career goals.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants must prepare the following documents for their applications:

 

1.     Secondary school certificate: A notarized copy of the Certificate of Secondary Education. Applicants who completed secondary school in 2026 may submit their national examination results slip.

2.     National identity card: A copy of a valid Rwandan national identity card.

3.     Passport-size photograph: One recent, coloured passport-size photograph.

 

Applicants are required to combine all the supporting documents into one PDF file before submitting their applications online.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Interested applicants should follow these steps to apply for the tuition fee funding opportunity:

Step 1: Choose an eligible program

Review the four available undergraduate programs and identify the one you wish to pursue at the Protestant University of Rwanda.

 

Step 2: Prepare the required documents and submit your application 

Gather your secondary school certificate or eligible results slip, a copy of your Rwandan national identity card, and one coloured passport-size photograph and use the link at the bottom to submit your application 

 

Step 3: Complete the university admission process

Applicants must first be considered for admission by PUR. Those admitted will then be required to fulfil the additional requirements established by Chancen International Rwanda.

 

Step 6: Attend the ISA information and agreement meeting

Students who proceed to the Chancen International funding stage will be required to attend a meeting to learn about the Income Share Agreement and sign the relevant agreement. Each student must attend this meeting with two guarantors.

 

Step 7: Await confirmation of funding

Students selected to receive tuition fee funding will be notified through the collaboration between PUR and Chancen International Rwanda. Studies are expected to commence in January 2027.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Applicants should take note of the following important details:

 

·       Funding arrangement: Chancen International Rwanda will cover tuition fees during the student's period of study. The funding is provided under an Income Share Agreement rather than a conventional scholarship that requires no repayment.

·       Repayment obligation: Beneficiaries agree to repay a specified percentage of their income after completing their studies, in accordance with the terms of the signed agreement. Applicants are encouraged to understand these terms fully before committing.

·       Two guarantors required: Students proceeding to the agreement stage must attend the ISA meeting with two guarantors.

·       Selection and notification: Admission to PUR does not automatically guarantee funding from Chancen International Rwanda. Final funding confirmation will be communicated through the two institutions.
