Applications are currently open for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at Ashesi University in Ghana, offering talented young students from Africa the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate degree with comprehensive financial support. The programme is offered through a partnership between Ashesi University and The Mastercard Foundation. Ashesi University is located in Berekuso, Ghana, and the Scholars Programme provides selected students with financial, academic, leadership and career support throughout their university journey.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants should meet Ashesi University's undergraduate admission requirements and demonstrate the qualities sought by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme.

Applicants must:

·       Be applying for an undergraduate programme at Ashesi University.

·       Demonstrate strong academic potential.

·       Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to making a positive impact.

·       Require financial assistance to pursue university education.

·       Meet Ashesi University's academic admission requirements.

·       International applicants must provide certified translations of documents that are not in English.

·       International students whose previous education was not conducted in English must provide evidence of English-language proficiency, such as TOEFL or IELTS.

Applicants should note that meeting the university's academic requirements does not automatically guarantee selection for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme, as scholarship selection is competitive.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants should prepare the documents required for Ashesi's undergraduate application, including:

1.     Completed application form

2.     High school transcripts or report cards covering at least six terms

3.     Secondary-school examination results or equivalent qualification

4.     Personal essays/statements required as part of the application

5.     English-language proficiency evidence, where applicable

6.     Certified translations of academic documents that are not in English

7.     Additional supporting documents requested by Ashesi during the application process

International applicants should note that Ashesi requires academic documents submitted in languages other than English to be translated and certified. Students with non-Ghanaian examination results may also be required to have their results validated by Ghana's relevant accreditation authority.

Ashesi University is located in Berekuso, Ghana, and undergraduate programmes are delivered in English. The current Ashesi admissions portal allows applicants to select their citizenship, including Rwanda, so Rwandan students can apply as international applicants.

International applicants should carefully review Ashesi's requirements before submitting an application. The university states that international applicants may need to provide evidence of English proficiency when English was not the language of instruction during secondary school.

Applicants should also be aware that Ashesi charges an application fee for undergraduate applications. The current admissions page lists US$25 for international applicants. However, Ashesi states that scholarship and international applications are not accepted during the Late Admissions period, making it important to apply before the regular deadline.
