CZECH GOVERNMENT FULLY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS 2027


Applications are now open for the Czech Government Scholarships for International Students 2027–2028, offering fully funded opportunities to eligible students from selected developing countries to pursue Master’s and PhD studies in the Czech Republic. The scholarship is offered by the Government of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the framework of the Czech Republic’s Foreign Development Assistance. The program has supported more than 20,000 international students since the 1950s.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful applicants may receive:

·       Full tuition fee coverage for the selected study program.

·       Monthly stipend of CZK 16,000 for Follow-up Master’s students.

·       Monthly stipend of CZK 24,960 for Doctoral (PhD) students.

·       Fully funded one-year Czech language and preparatory course for Czech-taught programs.

·       Coverage of standard health services, subject to the scholarship conditions.

·       Initial medical examination upon arrival when urgent care is required within the first 60 days.

·       Scholarship documentation that can support the application for a long-term visa or residence permit.

·       No application or participation fee.

·       Opportunity to study full-time and on campus at Czech higher education institutions.

Note: Living expenses are expected to be covered from the monthly scholarship stipend, and the scholarship covers only the standard duration of the selected program.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries, including Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, and Belarus (democratic forces).

·       Citizens of the Czech Republic, EU citizens, and residents of the Czech Republic are not eligible.

·       For Czech-taught Follow-up Master’s programs, applicants must generally hold a Bachelor’s degree.

·       For English-taught Follow-up Master’s programs, applicants must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree.

·       Applicants for PhD programs must hold a relevant Master’s degree.

·       Meet the specific academic and language requirements of the selected university and program.

·       Pass the required university entrance examination where applicable.

·       Demonstrate strong academic or scientific potential, depending on the level of study.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

Czech-Taught Programs

  • Follow-up Master’s degree: 2–3 years
  • Czech language and preparatory studies: 1 year

English-Taught Programs

  • Follow-up Master’s degree: 2 years
  • Doctoral (PhD) degree: 3–4 years

Applicants should check the specific participating universities and eligible fields before selecting their preferred program.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

For Follow-up Master’s Applicants

Applicants are required to prepare documents including:

·       Motivation letter of approximately 1 A4 page.

·       CV focusing on education and work experience.

·       Copy of passport, if available.

·       Signed Declaration of Acceptance of Scholarship Terms.

·       Signed Declaration on Health Services.

·       Signed Affirmation to Return to the Country of Origin.

·       Legalized birth certificate with certified Czech translation.

·       Medical certificate issued no more than 2 months before submission.

·       Legalized Bachelor’s degree/diploma and Diploma Supplement or equivalent, with the required authentication and certified Czech translation.

·       Academic transcript/list of subjects, examinations, and grades where applicable.

·       Additional information concerning previous university education, where required.

For Doctoral (PhD) Applicants

Applicants should prepare:

·       Motivation letter of approximately 2 A4 pages.

·       Academic and professional CV.

·       Copy of passport, if available.

·       The three required signed declarations.

·       Legalized birth certificate.

·       Medical certificate issued no more than 2 months before submission.

·       Legalized Master’s diploma and Diploma Supplement/equivalent, with the required authentication and translation.

·       Academic records where applicable.

·       Overview of publications.

·       3–5 page dissertation thesis proposal/focus.

·       Two recommendation letters from professors.

·       Additional documents demonstrating academic or scientific achievements, where applicable.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Applicants should follow these steps:

1.     Visit the official Czech Government scholarship application platform.

2.     Select the appropriate scholarship and study program.

3.     Complete the online application form carefully.

4.     Fill in the form using the Roman alphabet where possible; English or Czech may be used where necessary.

5.     Enter the assigned application identification number in the designated place.

6.     Upload the required photograph and supporting documents.

7.     Prepare and upload a strong motivation letter explaining your interest in the selected program.

8.     Carefully review all information before submitting the application.

9.     Print and sign the completed application where required.

10.  Send the signed printed application and required supporting documents according to the official submission instructions.

Applicants should ensure that all documents requiring legalization, authentication, or certified Czech translation are prepared according to the official requirements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The scholarship is intended for full-time, on-campus study and is available only for the standard duration of the selected program. Applicants should carefully review the admission requirements of their chosen Czech university because an entrance examination and specific language proficiency may be required.

The scholarship is particularly suitable for students from eligible developing countries who have strong academic backgrounds and wish to contribute to the development of their countries and communities after completing their studies.
