The Ruli Higher Institute of Health Sainte Rose de Lima (RHIH) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for government-sponsored scholarships for the September 2026 intake of its undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year. The scholarship opportunity is offered by Ruli Higher Institute of Health Sainte Rose de Lima (RHIH), an institution under the Archdiocese of Kigali, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH).

 

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Successful scholarship beneficiaries will receive:

 

·       Government-sponsored financial support covering tuition fees for the selected undergraduate programme.

·       An opportunity to study in a professional health sciences institution and obtain training in Nursing or Midwifery.

·       A pathway to employment and service within Rwanda's health system after graduation, subject to the terms of the agreement signed with the Ministry of Health.

 

Selected scholarship beneficiaries will be required to sign a contract agreement with the Ministry of Health to ensure their absorption into the health system after graduation. Beneficiaries will also be required to serve for a minimum period as specified in the agreement.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the admission requirements for either the Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Honours or the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery with Honours.

 

For candidates who completed secondary school since 2024

·       Applicants must hold an Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education with an overall average of at least 60%.

·       The eligible core subjects are Biology and Chemistry, regardless of the subject combination.

·       Applicants must have obtained at least an E grade in both Biology and Chemistry.

 

For candidates who completed Senior Six before 2024

·       Applicants must have obtained at least grades A, B, C, or D in both Biology and Chemistry.

·       Applicants must also have at least a subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Physics, or Geography.

 

For graduates of Associate Nursing programmes completed after 2023

·       Applicants must have an overall average of at least 60%.

·       Applicants must have obtained at least an S grade in both Biology and Chemistry, or in both Fundamentals of Nursing and Clinical Attachment.

 

For graduates of Nursing programmes completed before 2008

Applicants who completed the former A2 Nursing programme before 2008 must:

 

·       Hold a valid license to practice issued by the National Council of Nurses and Midwives (NCNM).

·       Have obtained at least a C- grade in Fundamentals of Nursing and Introduction to Anesthesia, as well as in the practical examination.

 

Additional eligibility conditions

·       Applicants must have graduated from Senior Six or its equivalent.

·       Students currently receiving another scholarship funded by the Government or its partners are not eligible.

·       Applicants who have already graduated from another university-level programme are not eligible.

·       Any applicant found to have violated the application requirements may be immediately disqualified and may face additional sanctions depending on the nature of the violation.

 

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS

A total of 54 government-sponsored scholarships are available under the following programmes:

 

·       Bachelor of Science in Midwifery with Honours: 36 Scholarships

·       Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Honours: 18 Scholarships

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants are required to submit the following documents through the RHIH Online Application system:

 

·       Senior Six (S6) Certificate or equivalent academic certificate.

·       National Identity Card or Passport.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Interested and eligible candidates should follow the steps below:

 

  1. Complete the online application form through the application link at the bottom.
  2. Select the relevant programme: Nursing or Midwifery.
  3. Upload the required documents, including the S6 Certificate and National ID or Passport.
  4. Review all information carefully before submitting the application.
  5. Submit the application before the deadline.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Candidates who meet the minimum admission requirements will be invited to sit for an admission test. The admission test is scheduled to take place on 17 September 2026. Register for our coaching class for the Duolingo English Test

 

Final selection of scholarship beneficiaries will be based on performance in the admission test. Successful candidates will be required to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Health outlining their obligations, including their future service and absorption into Rwanda's health system after graduation.

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application period runs from 31 August 2026 to 11 September 2026.
